Hue Jackson: Campbell entrenched as QB

Head coach Hue Jackson confirmed Tuesday that there’s "no question" Jason Campbell is entrenched as the Raiders’ starting quarterback.

"The guy won some very important games," said Jackson. "The guy played hurt. The guy got to know his teammates, rallied his team, and finished very strong." Jackson and owner Al Davis are both Campbell boosters whereas former coach Tom Cable placed more trust in Bruce Gradkowski. Campbell won’t have competition at the position this summer.

Ward: bring back Plax

Former teammate Hines Ward would welcome a Plaxico Burress return to the Steelers in 2011, according to ESPN.

Our View: Although Burress should draw some interest next summer, it won’t be from the Steelers. They’ve got their one character concern in Ben Roethlisberger, and will surely try to keep it at that.

Brady takes home Associated Press honor

In a hugely unsurprising vote, New England’s Tom Brady has been named the Associated Press Offensive Player of the Year for 2010.

Our View: That’s what throwing for 36 touchdowns and just four interceptions in 16 games can get you. Look for Brady to be a man possessed in 2011 after his Pats got unceremoniously bounced in the playoffs this season.

Ward still saying he won’t retire

Hines Ward insisted on Tuesday that he has no plans to retire this offseason, according to the Boston Herald.

Our View: “I’m not retiring. I’m not in the mood to retire.” Well there you have it. He’ll be worth drafting in all formats next season, but may only be worth holding onto in PPR Leagues.

Mora interested in Titans job

“Former NFL head coach Jim Mora Jr. is interested in getting back in the business, and would love to hear from the Titans,” according to the Nashville Tennessean.

Our View: Mora crashed out of his previous head coaching job in just one season, so he might not be the best hire for a team that just had the same coach since 1994. More than likely, Mora will be forced to keep his T.V. gig.

Griffen avoids felony charges

“Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen won’t face a felony charge on suspicion of battery after allegedly assaulting a police officer and being tased near the University of Southern California campus on Monday afternoon,” according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View: A role player in 2010, he’s still unlikely to be back with the Vikings in 2011.

LeBeau speaks about Rodgers

Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau spoke about Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers on Tuesday, according to the Boston Globe. “Rodgers is a kind of guy that you know is going to make some plays. I’ve used this analogy before and I think it’s accurate. He’s like a very good scorer in basketball, you know he’s going to get points. From a defensive standpoint you have to keep him from controlling the game, monopolizing the game and that’s what we have to try to do with Rodgers.”

Our View: “He’s a great player. He can create, improvise with his feet, he can go to his second and third choice in a route because he has such a quick release,” he continued. “Sees the field and you know he’s going to make plays. At the same time, you have to limit those plays and keep the game in touch where your guys have a chance to win it.” Sounds like the Packers are only hoping to contain, and not stop, Rodgers in Super Bowl XLV.

Ocho not pleased about OC’s firing

Chad Ochocinco is not pleased about the Bengals firing of offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski, but refused to say bad things about the team, according to the Boston Herald.

Our View: He’s trying to be a good soldier as he forces his way out of the Queen City. It’s looking less and less likely he’ll be back in 2011.

Walden says he’ll play in Super Bowl

Erik Walden (ankle) insists he’ll be active for Super Bowl XLV, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View: That’s still not official, but things are trending that way. With Frank Zombo also banged up, Green Bay needs Walden to be active.
