Browns name McCoy starting QB

Colt McCoy will be the Browns’ starting quarterback for Weeks 15-17, according to Tony Grossi of the Plain Dealer.

Our View: This is good news for Browns fans, as Jake Delhomme has played terribly in McCoy’s absence. That said, this news should not affect your fantasy team in any form unless you own Ben Watson.

Report: Mangini leaning toward starting McCoy

Browns coach Eric Mangini said Colt McCoy (ankle) will receive a "decent" amount of first-team reps in Wednesday’s practice.

Mangini wants to see how McCoy looks in practice before naming him the starter and said he would clarify the quarterback picture Thursday. As the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram’s Scott Petrak notes, it sounds like the coach will go with the rookie this weekend as long as he’s healthy. McCoy has missed the last three games, with Jake Delhomme playing terribly in his absence. His return would be a boost to the Browns offense.

Moore doesn’t practice on Wednesday

Evan Moore (hip) isn’t practicing on Wednesday according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer.

Our View: That’s good news for Ben Watson, who is getting more targets in Moore’s absence. With Colt McCoy back under center this weekend, the Browns’ passing game should get a much-needed shot in the arm with or without Moore.

McCoy hopeful to return vs. Bengals

Colt McCoy (sprained ankle) hopes to return for Week 15 and has a good chance to start if he’s healthy, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Plain Dealer.

Our View: While he would certainly be an upgrade at the quarterback position over Jake Delhomme, McCoy makes for a poor fantasy play against the Bengals. The rookie has throws for 975 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions through his first five NFL games.

Colt McCoy optimistic he’ll be ready Sunday

Colt McCoy (ankle) is optimistic he’ll be ready to play in Week 15.

Although he’s yet to officially declare McCoy his starter when healthy, Browns coach Eric Mangini might have tipped his hand by saying, "If Colt couldn’t play, then I’d go with (Jake) Delhomme." Mangini added that he’d "see where we’re at on Wednesday and kind of go from there." We fully expect McCoy to get the call if he’s ready.

Colt McCoy progressing

Colt McCoy is tentatively expected to serve as the Browns’ starting quarterback in Week 15, reports the Cleveland Plain-Dealer.

Our View: Predictably, Jake Delhomme has played quite poorly in McCoy’s absence, leading Cleveland to an embarrassing loss to the Bills and near embarrassing loss to the Panthers. If McCoy is at least limited in practice on Wednesday, he’s very likely to get the call next Sunday.

Hillis rumbles for 108 yards

Peyton Hillis toted the rock 21 times for 108 yards in the Week 14 loss at Buffalo.

Our View: Hillis, who also chipped in two receptions for 10 yards, failed to find the end zone for only third game this season. The Arkansas product lost a fumble for the fifth time this year, but is still a must start in Week 15 at Cincinnati.

Browns Week 14 inactives

Browns Week 14 inactives: QB Colt McCoy, DL Brian Sanford, WR Demetrius Williams, TE Evan Moore, DL Jayme Mitchell, WR Jordan Norwood, LB Scott Fujita, LB Titus Brown.

Our View: With McCoy (ankle) inactive, QB Jake Delhomme draws his third consecutive start. Also, WR Josh Cribbs (foot) is active and will play, while DT Shaun Rogers (ankle) is active and will likely play a limited amount of snaps.

LB Titus Brown won’t play Week 14

According to the team’s Twitter page, Titus Brown (concussion) has been ruled out Cleveland’s Week 14 game.

Our View: Brown left last week’s game with a concussion in the first quarter. He was expected to miss this one, and his absence shouldn’t cause too many problems for the Browns.

TE Evan Moore ruled out of Sunday’s game

Evan Moore (hip) has been ruled out of Cleveland’s Week 14 game, according to the team’s Twitter page.

Our View: Moore hurt his hip and had to leave last Week’s game in the second quarter. He’s not relevant in any fantasy format.
