Marcedes Lewis expects to play Week 14

According to Tania Ganguli, Marcedes Lewis (thumb) expects to play Week 14.

Our View: Lewis said his thumb was dislocated when a DB tried to slap the ball from his hands. Still, he says he’s “fine,” and we’d be mighty surprised to see him miss this week’s game.

S Courtney Greene sitting out Wednesday

Safety Courtney Greene (shoulder) missed practice Wednesday, according to Mark Long.

Our View: Greene’s shoulder injury sounds serious enough, and it now looks like he’ll sit against the Raiders Week 14. Hopefully, you haven’t been counting on Oakland’s receivers or Jason Campbell, but they’ll all get a slight boost against an already beleaguered secondary.

MJD has career high 186 rushing yards in win

Maurice Jones-Drew ran the ball 31 times for 186 yards and added one catch for four yards in the Jaguars Week 13 win over Tennessee, 17-6.

It was a run first game plan, as the Jags kept the ball on the ground for 11 of their first 12 plays. The team finished with 53 runs compared to just 19 passes. Credit the offensive line and tight ends, as Jacksonville’s runners had huge lanes to work with the entire afternoon. No play typified Jones-Drew’s game more than a fourth quarter run during which he stiff-armed S Michael Griffin to the ground and weaved his way through a porous Tennessee defense for 37 yards. He’s got a great playoff schedule, and could easily end up as the most valuable player down the stretch.

Marcedes Lewis held to 36 yards

Marcedes Lewis was held to 36 yards on three catches in Jacksonville’s 17-6 win over the Titans.

Our View: Lewis wasn’t spectacular, though the Jags threw only 19 times. He was targeted four times, good for second on the team, though he’s gone scoreless and under 40 yards in two straight weeks. His role is clearly decreasing.

Garrard, efficient not flashy in win

David Garrard completed 14-of-19 for just 126 yards in Jacksonville’s 17-6 win over the Titans.

Our View: He also ran 10 times for 19 yards and a score, so it wasn’t a completely fruitless day. Of course, he’s now gone under 200 yards in both of his past two games, and he’s thrown two TD against four INT through his past three. With Maurice Jones-Drew finally getting cranked up, Garrard’s value is dropping. It’s worth noting that he was working without No. 1 receiver Mike Sims-Walker today.

SS Courtney Greene leaves in first quarter

Strong safety Courtney Greene was injured on his first series of the game Sunday.

Our View: It looked like he injured his shoulder while attempting to tackle Chris Johnson. He left under his own power, though he was crying on the sideline and seemed to be in a lot of pain. This would be a huge blow to the Jags secondary. Stay tuned.

Jaguars Week 13 inactives

Jaguars Week 13 inactives: WR Mike Sims-Walker, FB Brock Bolen, DT Leger Douzable, DE Larry Hart, OT Kevin Haslam, OT Adam Terry, WR Tiquan Underwood and CB Terrence Wheatley.

Our View: Mike Thomas and Marcedes Lewis should benefit with Sims-Walker out after injuring his ankle. Still, it’s surprising that’s missing this one after positive reports this week. There’s no word on whether he suffered a setback.

Sims-Walker ruled out for Week 13 at Titans

Mike Sims-Walker (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 13 against the Titans.

Sims-Walker must have encountered a setback during practice this week. He missed only one game with the high ankle sprain, returning to a major role against the Giants in Week 12. The Jags may be trying to get him fully healthy for the stretch run. Mike Thomas and Marcedes Lewis should see an increase in targets at Tennessee. David Garrard is a poor fantasy option this week.

Garrard limited Thursday

David Garrard (wrist) was limited at practice Thursday, according to the Florida Times-Union.

Our View: Garrard is expected to start on Sunday against Tennessee but he’s no better than a low-end QB2 in larger leagues this week.

Sims-Walker limited Thursday

Mike Sims-Walker (ankle) returned to a limited practice on Thursday, according to the Jaguars official Twitter page.

Our View: Sims-Walker practiced sparingly last week and played the whole game against the Giants so we expect him to be on the field Sunday. He’s a weak WR3 option, though, given his disappointing fantasy season to date.
