Jets agreee to terms with S Emanuel Cook

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the Jets have agreed to terms with safety Emanuel Cook.

Our View: The Jets are perilously thin at safety after losing Jim Leonhard and James Ihedigbo, and Cook can provide some depth. He’s been in the UFL since spending time with the Jets during training camp and the preseason.

Jets sticking with Folk

Although Nick Folk missed his ninth field goal of the season on Monday evening, the Jets are still not yet planning to replace him, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.

Our View: His miss last night was a 53-yarder in swirling winds, so he can’t exactly be lambasted for it, but the fact remains that he is not looking like a player the Jets are going to want to have to rely on come playoff time. Expect Gang Green to find a new kicker some time in the next two or three weeks.

Dustin Keller’s role continues to dwindle

Dustin Keller caught three passes for 27 yards in a 45-3 loss to New England Monday night.

Our View: Keller finished fourth on the team with four targets, and he’s now gone over three catches just twice over his past eight games. He hasn’t scored once during that stretch, and he’s quickly becoming an afterthought in this offense.

Santonio Holmes held out of end zone in loss

Santonio Holmes caught seven passes for 72 yards in New York’s 45-3 loss to the Patriots.

Our View: Holmes was targeted a team-high 12 times, though that was part of the problem on occasion. Mark Sanchez seemed to be forcing it to Holmes, and that’ll help a guy throw three picks. Still, he’s grabbed at least five passes in each of his past five games, scoring all four of his TD over that time.

Tomlinson held to 47 yards on 10 carries

LaDainian Tomlinson ran 10 times for 47 yards and caught two passes for 14 yards as the Jets fell to New England 45-3 Monday night.

Our View: Shonn Greene carried 13 times, gaining 64 yards, and he looked much stronger than Tomlinson. LT has just 35 carries over his past three games, and he hasn’t scored since the Week 7 bye. After such a poor performance by Mark Sanchez, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Jets get back to running the ball against Miami Week 14, but Greene will likely be the biggest beneficiary.

Shonn Greene decent in lopsided loss

Shonn Greene ran 13 times for just 64 yards in New York’s 45-3 loss to the Patriots.

Our View: The Jets never had a chance to get the ground game going in this one, though Greene looked fine when given the chance. He averaged 4.9 yards per carry, his best mark since Week 5. Still, he hasn’t scored since then, either.

Mark Sanchez throws three picks

Mark Sanchez was awful Monday night, tossing three picks as the Patriots ran away with a 48-3 victory.

Our View: Sanchez finished 17-of-33 for 164 yards, fumbling once along the way for good measure. He looked very much like a young, unsure passer, and he’s now thrown only seven TD against nine picks over his past six games. He gets a home game against Miami next week.

S James Ihedigbo leaves with apparent leg injury

James Ihedigbo exited Monday night’s game in the third quarter with an apparent leg injury.

Our View: He got his leg caught under Pats center Dan Koppen, and his loss would really sting. The Jets are already without Jim Leonhard, and Ihedigbo’s absence would leave them with just two healthy safeties. Stay tuned.

Brad Smith leaves with injury in third quarter

Brad Smith left Monday’s game with an apparent injury in the third quarter.

Our View: Smith’s status is not yet known, though we don’t expect to see him back in the 38-3 beating the Jets are currently suffering. Stay tuned.

Jets Week 13 inactives

Jets Week 13 inactives: WR Laveranues Coles, DE Marcus Dixon, DL Matt Kroul, LB Jamaal Westerman, OL Vlad Ducasse, and TEs Matthew Mulligan, QB Kellen Clemens and Jeff Cumberland

Our View: RT Damien Woody and WR Jerricho Cotchery are both active, which is great news for New York. Cotchery will likely take over return duties, as well.
