The Seahawks have hired former Raiders head man Tom Cable as their offensive line coach/assistant head coach.
Our View: Cable coached under former Seattle offensive line guru Alex Gibbs, so this is a nice fit. He’ll keep the zone-blocking scheme going, and he’s proven that he can field an explosive offense.

The Seahawks have fired offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates, according to Michael Lombardi.
Our View: The impressive Wild Card round win over the Saints wasn’t enough to save Bates’ job. The Seahawks need to bolster their talent at wide receiver and quarterback should Matt Hasselbeck depart as a free agent so the job is all that enticing for whoever steps in to replace Bates.

Set to become a free agent, Matt Hasselbeck wants to be back with the Seahawks in 2011, according to the Seattle Times.
Our View: The interest could be mutual, though Pete Carroll and company are surely going to think long and hard about turning the quarterback reins over to Charlie Whitehurst, whom was acquired last offseason with an eye toward eventually starting. Although well past his prime, Hasselbeck should draw a ton of interest if he hits the open market considering the amount of teams that currently have question marks at QB.

John Carlson and Marcus Trufant have both been released from the hospital after suffering head injuries in Sunday’s loss to the Bears, according to Cindy Boren of the Washington Post.
Our View: Both the tight end and cornerback had to be carted off the field on a stretcher at different phases of the game, but are expected to be fine after what appeared to be scary injuries. Losing Carlson and Trufant were just two of a slew of things that didn’t go right for the Seahawks on Sunday.

According to the Seattle Times, Marshawn Lynch suffered a shoulder injury in Sunday’s loss to the Bears.
Our View: Not to worry; he’ll be fully healthy in time for offseason activities. Of course, this does somewhat explain the fact that he touched the ball only four times, though it would have been difficult to get him involved with the ‘Hawks down 28-0 early in the second half.

Coach Pete Carroll revealed after Sunday’s game that TE John Carlson and CB Marcus Trufant both sustained concussions, avoiding serious neck injuries.
Both players were immobilized, had their facemasks removed, and carted off after taking awkward hits to the head and neck area. They will spend the night in a Chicago hospital for observation but are otherwise expected to be just fine. Thankfully the two Seattle players avoided worst-case scenarios.

Mike Williams caught four passes for 15 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday, but the Seahawks comeback bid fell short in a 35-24 loss to the Bears.
Our View: Williams caught all of two touchdowns in 14 games this season. He finishes the year on a high note, setting himself up for a very good 2011.
