Gibson looks good in Rams loss

Brandon Gibson was the Rams leading receiver in Week 14, finishing the game with 67 yards on four receptions.

Our View: The Rams boast a promising young receiving corps, but it’s hard to trust any member of it on a weekly basis. Considering it’s playoff time, avoid them more than ever.

Bradford, Rams fall to Saints

Sam Bradford completed 18-of-32 passes for 231 yards and two interceptions in Sunday’s loss to the Saints. While he didn’t throw a touchdown pass, he did score on a five-yard rush to account for the Rams only touchdown of the game.

Our View: It’s been an up and down season for Bradford, but the rookie has impressed us. Today makes back-to-back weeks without a passing touchdown, which is the last thing owners want from their quarterback in the playoffs.

Jackson fumbles twice vs. Saints

Steven Jackson rushed 16 times for 96 yards and caught four passes for 38 yards in Week 14. He failed to score and lost two fumbles.

Our View: The yardage is nice, but his lack of touchdowns this season is rather disheartening. Jackson has just four of them and has also broken the 100-yard rushing mark only four times.

Rams Week 14 inactives

Rams Week 14 inactives: TE Michael Hoomanawanui, RB Kenneth Darby, S Michael Lewis, FB Mike Karney, G John Greco, DT Jermelle Cudjo, CB Ron Bartell, CB Justin King.

Our View: Hoomanawanui, who had emerged as a fairly dangerous receiver this season, remains out with a high-ankle sprain, though it’s Bartell’s absence that is more concerning, as a banged up secondary will now have even fewer playmakers. The winners of two-straight on the road, the Rams are very unlikely to make it three today against Drew Brees and the Saints.

Vobora new starting LB for Rams

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch expects David Vobora to move into the starting lineup as the team’s new strong-side linebacker.

Our View: Vobora has starting experience, but lost his job when Na’il Diggs was added this past offseason. Diggs has performed well for the team, but is now done for the year with a torn pectoral. Vobora isn’t an exciting add, right now, but is worth following for IDP-owners in Week 14.

Sam Bradford practicing fully all week

Sam Bradford (ankle) practiced fully Wednesday, according to Brian Stull.

Our View: Bradford was forced from last week’s game with a sore ankle, but it looks like he’ll be fine to go Week 14. He’s going against the Saints beleaguered pass defense this week, making him a safe play in two-QB formats.

LB David Nixon signed by Rams

Linebacker David Nixon was signed by the Rams Tuesday, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View: He went undrafted out of BYU in 2009, and he racked up 10 tackles in a quick stint with the Texans earlier this season. He’ll be a depth player at best.

Sam Bradford tweaked ankle against Arizona

Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo revealed that Sam Bradford tweaked an ankle in the team’s Week 14 win at Arizona.

Spags also confirmed that the injury won’t keep Bradford out of practice on Wednesday, but it may help explain the rookie’s struggles against the Cardinals. His accuracy was uncharacteristically off, and he seemed to struggle to power throws off his back foot. The Rams head to New Orleans for Week 14.

Bradford “tweaks” ankle

Quarterback Sam Bradford “tweaked” his ankle in St. Louis’ 19-6 win over the Cardinals on Sunday, but is not expected to miss any practice time this week, according to the team’s official Twitter feed.

Our View: His injury comes at a decidedly poor time, as the Rams are preparing for their daunting Week 14 visit to New Orleans, but it doesn’t sound like his mobility should be limited next Sunday. Of course, the Saints’ swarming, physical defense could change that in a hurry.

Na’il Diggs done for 2010

Rams linebacker Na’il Diggs is done for the season after tearing his pectoral muscle in St. Louis’ 19-6 win over the Cardinals on Sunday, according to the team’s official Twitter feed.

Our View: Diggs is not an overly effective player, but his loss is still big because the Rams will now be forced to start the even less effective David Vobora on the left side of their linebacking corps.
