Ryan Torain practicing fully all week

According to Ryan O’Halloran, Ryan Torain (hamstring) is practicing fully all week.

Our View: Torain’s hamstring setbacks have kept him out for five weeks, so his status on the depth chart is certainly murky. He’ll be active against Tampa, but he’s a poor option after missing so much time.

Haynesworth suspended for final four games

The Redskins have suspended defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth for the final four games of the season, Rick Maese of the Washington Post tweets.

Our View: Haynesworth has been at odds with Mike Shanahan and the new coaching staff for many months, and the tension grew to another boiling point this past weekend. This move is not too surprising, and we’d be shocked if Haynesworth is back with the Redskins in 2011.

Shanahan: Torain on the way back from injury

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan confirmed Monday that Ryan Torain (hamstring) will practice this week.

Torain actually did take some reps last Friday, so he may progress to full practice this week. It’s good timing with a favorable matchup against Tampa Bay on the slate, but Torain would be awfully hard to trust in the fantasy playoffs after a five-week layoff and several setbacks. His return would make James Davis and Keiland Williams obvious non-factors in all leagues.

Ryan Torain expected to practice this week

According to Redskins beat writer Rich Campbell, Ryan Torain (hamstring) is expected to participate in practice this week.

Our View: Torain was last active in Week 8. He would provide a huge boost to a Redskins’ rushing attack that has now been scuttling for weeks, but unlikely to be 100 percent healthy, he’s not safe to bank on as a flex play in 10-to-12 team leagues.

Report: Redskins won’t release Haynesworth

Contradicting an earlier report, the Redskins do not plan on cutting Albert Haynesworth, sources tell the Washington Post.

Report: Skins consider releasing Haynesworth

The Redskins are giving "serious consideration" to releasing Albert Haynesworth by Saturday, a source tells Chris Russell of ESPN 980 in Washington.

Russell’s source says there’s a 75 percent chance the Redskins go through with the move. Note that ESPN 980 is owned by Dan Snyder. It would be the culmination of a season-long clash between Haynesworth and coach Mike Shanahan, who essentially benched the controversial defensive tackle yesterday. The Redskins paid Haynesworth a $21 million bonus this offseason and have gotten virtually nothing from him on the field.

Redskins not planning to release Haynesworth

Updating an earlier item, ESPN’s Adam Schefter says the Redskins will not be releasing Albert Haynesworth this week.

Our View: He also says there is no chance that he will even be released this season. Coach Mike Shanahan would certainly love to do so, but probably doesn’t want to reward Haynesworth by giving him the opportunity to join a winning organization during the season’s final month. However, he will almost certainly be playing elsewhere in 2011.

Redskins getting ready to release Haynesworth?

Redskins beat writer Chris Russell reports that the team is “giving ‘serious consideration’ to releasing” disgruntled defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth by next weekend.

Our View: Haynesworth was a surprising inactive on Sunday, and it is clear at this point that his relationship with head coach Mike Shanahan is unsalvageable. He’d be an extremely hot commodity were he to hit the waiver wire this week. Stay tuned.

Haynesworth a healthy scratch

Albert Haynesworth said he was healthy enough to play in Sunday’s 31-7 loss to the New York Giants and was surprised that Coach Mike Shanahan instead opted to deactivate him, according to the Washington Post.

Our View: Shanahan said Haynesworth’s performance — or lack thereof — in practice last week contributed to his decision to sit the two-time All-Pro. The $100 million man also missed a team meeting last week and was late for another. It’s pretty safe to say that barring a miracle, this will be Haynesworth’s last season in the nation’s capital.
